NATHANIEL OVIATT: Master of Meridian Sun in 1828 

 

 

He was born 12 June 1790 in Goshen Litchfield, Connecticut. In 1811 Nathaniel Oviatt, of Goshen, Conn., came to this town with his family, performing the journey with oxen and cart the whole distance.

He was married 5 times and had 13 children. Nathaniel Oviatt was married to Hannah Deming, Julia Moses, and Elizabeth Osborn and  another marriage for him--22 Jul 1856 to Elenor Mason. He was a farmer living in Richfield and his property in the 1860 census was valued at $14,500. April 1816, Richfield was formed from Boston & several other townships; Nathaniel was elected to serve as one of its first officers.

20 November 1928: Wyllys Welton was elected Worshipful Master and a committee was appointed to make a settlement of the burning of the Lodge the past year. No further information on the fire is available though the Charter does have a burn mark on it.
